What's new in Gumtrue

This release makes the Sales page easier to search, adds a VAT summary and discount options to your printed invoices, and gives the sales listing reports the columns needed for VAT work. It also fixes a handful of pricing and status quirks.

Finding sales faster

  • Filter by more than one price list: The Sales page now lets you tick several price lists at once, and "No price list" can be combined with them instead of overriding them.
  • Filter by more than one tag: Tags work the same way, so you can pull up every order or invoice carrying any of the tags you pick, and narrow further by price list at the same time.
  • Created by: Orders and invoices can now be filtered by the person who keyed them in, and the list only offers people who have actually raised a document.
  • Same filters on the sales listing reports: The Sales Listing and Sales Listing (VAT) reports take the same multi-select price list filter as the Sales page.

Invoices that show the VAT and the saving

  • VAT summary on the PDF: Tick "Show VAT summary" in the template designer's totals box and each invoice prints a per-rate VAT breakdown beside the totals.
  • Discount given in the totals: When your template shows the saving on each line, you can also print the total discount given as its own row in the totals, with a label of your choosing.
  • Shorter totals labels: Account summary labels now read "Balance B/F" and "Outstanding" by default, and every totals label stops at 24 characters with a counter, so nothing overflows on the printed page.
  • Align your message: The Message and Notes sections on a document can now be set to left, centre or right.
  • Designer that follows you: Selecting a block in the template designer turns the preview to the right page and scrolls it into view, and sample lines now default to the short set so the preview is quicker to read.

Reports built for VAT returns

  • Subtotal and discount on the sales listing: The Sales Listing report now shows the pre-discount subtotal and the discount taken off each invoice, so subtotal plus discount always equals net on every row and in the totals.
  • A column pair per VAT rate in the export: The Excel export of the sales listing adds a Net and VAT column for every VAT rate that appears in the period, so the spreadsheet is ready for your return without reworking.
  • Discount share on the VAT breakdown: The VAT breakdown report now shows each rate's share of any whole-invoice discount as its own column, so the figures are traceable rather than silently adjusted.

Smaller things that save time

  • Settings menu stays put: The settings section menu now stays on screen as you scroll a long page, such as roles or user permissions, and stacks above the content on narrower screens.
  • Clearer permission editing: Permission keys that are only there because another permission needs them now show a "needed by" caption, and setting a group to "No access" greys out the create and edit options underneath it so nobody grants a right the person cannot reach.
  • A friendly page not found: Following an old link or opening a customer, product, order or other record that no longer exists now shows a clear "We couldn't find that page" screen with a way back to the dashboard.

Bug Fixes

  • Zero-total invoices stay Open: Editing an invoice's only line to a price of zero used to mark it Paid and drop it off the Outstanding tab. An invoice with a total of zero is now never marked Paid on its own.
  • Same-day price corrections reach the price list: Correcting a price on an order or invoice raised the same day was silently ignored by price list auto-update. It now goes through, while edits to older documents still cannot overwrite a newer price.
  • Moving an order no longer rewrites the new customer's prices: Moving an order to another customer no longer copies its prices onto that customer's price list, matching how moving an invoice already behaved.
  • No access now means no access: Setting a permission group to "No access" used to leave its create and edit keys ticked while the server quietly removed them. The panel now clears them too, so what you see is what is saved.
  • Discount options only where they apply: The template designer no longer offers discount display settings on document types that have no discount columns, such as credit notes.
